Parent group port expansion workshop – 10th May 2022

The maritime industry continues to undergo major reforms, following an unprecedented growth in the world maritime trade. These reforms have led national governments to implement port governance reforms. The reforms have resulted in a renewed role for the Port Authorities & Terminal Operators in the respective area, country, or region.

Master Planning for ports infrastructure & developments has emerged as an important & major area of focus for sustainable maritime infrastructure development for major nations.

It is also well documented that the biggest challenge faced by global ports & terminals is the optimization of port operations to improve productivity. Plus, with the emergence of mega vessels, ports are under tremendous pressure to improve capacity planning, streamline their processes, redesign their infrastructure, & develop strategies that can optimize their port/terminal operations to raise productivity & operational efficiency while ensuring they remain highly sustainable, commercially viable & competitive.

Understanding this & drawing upon the twenty-four years’ experience of specialised experience of operating eighty-two terminals globally & having activities in over 40 countries (equal to over 70 million containers annually), the Port Expansion Workshop provided proven frameworks to help improve port design, operational efficiency, capacity planning & productivity to run an economically sustainable, efficient, & successful operation.

Through the standardisation of best industry practices, techniques, & strategies from around the world & applying these to future projects at the conception & planning stage ultimately optimizes the performance during the execution & ensures future-proofing so that this can be maintained throughout the project life span & beyond.

Covering every conceivable aspect & allowing for the unique circumstances that may be specific to one location, but not applicable to all, the workshop represents the culmination of many years’ experience & hard work by industry-renowned professionals.

The inclusion of WCS in this event further highlights the vast experience & resources at our disposal.
